Safety Riding Gear Tip by Marisa Houge Pinetop Motors and Powersports |
All equipment comes with an owner’s manual, read it, learn it, love it. As a responsible rider with the proper knowledge, you will be able to perform a very simple; yet, necessary task before you go on your adventure, the pre-ride inspection. During your pre-ride inspection you will check your tires, lights, chain/drive shaft and fuel to name a few. A detailed pre-ride inspection list for your specific machine should be found in your owner’s manual. Even though a pre-ride inspection may seem like a waste of time, it could save you from having a disastrous ride. Another important thing to remember is to wear the proper clothing when attempting an off road quest. A t-shirt, tennis shoes, and a baseball cap hardly qualify as appropriate gear. Not only does gear actually serve a purpose, but it will also make you look more like a serious rider (if you’re going for style points!). For instance, gloves not only prevent your hands from brush scratches and cold weather, but they can increase the length of your ride by preventing fatigue from vibration. Riding boots serve a similar function of protection and increased riding time. The most important item to wear is a helmet. Nothing cuts an exhilarating ride short like a mild concussion. Lucky for you, dirt bike helmets actually look bad ass compared to most motorcycle helmets. Lastly, remember no one likes a hot dog! Ride within your skill level. If you are riding with a group, don’t try to rise to their riding level. Trail riding should be fun for everyone! If you remember all these simple pointers, I promise you will have a very long and fun riding season! Marisa Pine Top Pinetop Motors & Powersports |
