Bodywork
is complete and now we have decided to paint your bike with a black
base coat, silver tribal graphics, and a red kandy stripe base the
bike silver. Now, tape out our tribal design, masking what is to stay
silver. We have to remember to mask where the red will go over silver
too. Now we spray a black base coat and let dry. Day two, unmask where
the red will be and leave the silver tribal masked up. All the black
needs to be masked up leaving only a silver stripe, which will end
as up our red kandy with ghosted skulls. First airbrush all the skulls
with shades of black and gray over silver with subtle white highlights.
When we’re happy with the way it looks we spray a red kandy (a
transparent color) over the skulls.
Now the
parts get a few good coats of clear. Day three, all the parts need
to be color sanded with 600 grit papers. This will knock down paint
lines and get rid of any orange peel. It also helps if any details
need to be fixed. Next thing is to pinstripe the silver tribal graphics
red.
Now, it gets the 3-d look with shadow and highlights. Be sure to use a light
hand here, we are going for a realistic shadow. We are ready for final clear.
A couple days after clear we will knock down the clear with 1500 and 2000 wet/dry
sand paper. This ensures a smooth glass like finish and makes buffing easier.
Now final buffing, assemble and ride.
Thanks and I look forward to painting your ride
