Breast Cancer Awareness by Jill Singleton |
The general consensus in regard to cancer is that it is a disease which effects primarily the older population. This mind-set is one which unfortunately can delay a diagnosis until it is too late for adequate treatment. I want you the reader of this article to be aware that cancer can touch anyone at anytime. It can be life changing, life ending, emotional, powerful, cruel, educational, enlighting and any other emotion imaginable. If I can leave you with one thought, it would be never to bury your head in the sand about early detection and treatment, and the mind set that cancer could never affect you. Women, please do your monthly breast exam, have yearly physicals and be aware of any changes in your body. Men, make sure the women in your life do the above. Remind your friends, and family to act on any concerns. One simple doctor visit really can save a life, it did for me. I believe my friends, family and especially my daughters are glad I took the time to have an exam by a remarkable physician who through some way detected a lump, which lead to treatment and survival. Please support local charities and fundraisers. Thank you, and if you ever see me around feel free to ask any questions. -Jill
