Contemplating Purchasing a New Custom Motorcycle?

It is always fun just to look at various brands and styles of bikes, but what happens when you and possibly your significant other decide to move ahead and purchase? Hopefully only good times will follow, especially if the purchase is made with a clear and educated thought process.

Five main topics which go through my mind include, setting a budget, looking at your size and frame in comparison to the motorcycle, does the manufacturer produce a bike that has a VIN that is accepted by NADA, and Kelly Blue Book, can the bike be built or changed with ease for your comfort, and am I comfortable in dealing with the seller be it an individual or a dealership.

A budget that is either predetermined by yourself or the bank is an excellent way to keep a perspective on the deal. If the seller continually finds ways to increase the purchase price with add-ons or additional fees be aware there is always another place to look.

When examining the multiple product lines now available in the market look for a brand that is built for you. Nothing is more uncomfortable than being 5'4'' and attempting to tip toe at the stoplight because that new custom is just too tall. Several brands are now specifically addressing those riders that are under and over the national height and weight averages.

An important fact to look at if financing and obtaining insurance is if the bike manufacturer has obtained a federal VIN. Also is the bike listed in NADA and Kelly Blue Book, has it been federally break tested or passed EPA for emissions. All of this adds credibility to the manufacturer and potentially makes the bike easier to finance and insure.

Finally, will the seller allow you to adjust, or add features without adding thousands on in costs? If the seller is willing to work with you and makes you feel comfortable and confident, the transaction should be and a memorable and exciting experience.
